Pleats Please!

By: Alicia Nieto

A new season means new trends, and with that I’ll say, “Pleats Please!” I am personally beyond thrilled to see voluminous pleats on the trend radar. One might assume that pleats only belong on skirts, but our design favorites (below) prove otherwise. Pleats are a fanciful way to add light volume and texture to a blouse or add a twist to a pair of trousers. Another misconception is that only certain (smaller) body frames are appropriate for these embellishments. However, that is not the case with the variety of pleated pieces trending now, as there is something for everyone. As a plus size woman myself, I tend to steer away from pieces that would add extra bulk on top. That said, I am quite fond of pleated sleeves and of course the classic skirt. The most important thing to remember in terms of any fashion trend, is to wear whatever it is that makes you feel amazing and true to yourself!

That said, pleats for everyone!
