Moda Bella: More than just a Boutique

In the quaint town of Port Washington, Wisconsin, various boutiques line the downtown strip. The peaceful lake breeze rings of the coming spring weather. On this particular evening I found myself with a skip in my step as I eagerly made my way to Thursday night’s special event. As a fashion enthusiast I was pleased to hear about Port Washington’s own night of fashion. The event was organized and hosted by Moda Bella, an urban chic boutique. Located at 215 N. Franklin St. in Port Washington, I must say with confidence that it is my new favorite store!

After living in Chicago for most of my life, I have come to miss my local neighborhood boutiques and have had some reluctance in searching for a new batch of favorites. Though after last night, it seems the search is over! After showing up with my giant camera equipment bags, I was immediately welcomed by the owner, Michele. I immediately felt welcomed and put at ease. (Just a little inside event photo secret; that’s not always the case!)

Though I have done quick browses and window shopping past Moda Bella, I was in awe in many facets upon my entry into the boutique. Beyond the nice snack and beverage spread which was open to the guests, my concentration was on the shop’s layout. I felt right at home amongst the clothing, plush handbags and jewelry! Racks of carefully organized dresses and other garments lined the brick interior walls. That being said, I have been in some “stuffy” boutiques before, where you feel guilty for simply touching the fabric of a dress. Moda Bella, beautiful layout and all, was welcoming and not at all intimidating. Beautiful clothes and a relaxed atmosphere…what more could a girl ask for?!

After perusing the goods, it was time for the fashion show to begin. The beautiful volunteer models donned outfits from Moda Bella, as Michele, the owner narrated each look we saw. The models represented all shapes, sizes and ages, which was a beautiful thing. Real women wearing real clothes. What a concept! While on the subject of different body types, Moda Bella is a proud retailer of sizes XS – 3X. What a beautiful idea to offer a variety of sizes especially in a smaller town where perhaps plus-size clothing may be harder to come by.

Following the fashion show, an auction was held featuring store items all to benefit those less fortunate. Several items were bid on and auctioned off, including a beautiful white shoulder bag that I just couldn’t pass up for the upcoming summer! It’s a win for everyone!

I could possibly write for ages about this great evening hosted by Moda Bella, but instead I encourage you to visit this friendly, personable (and of course fashionable!) boutique in downtown Port Washington, WI. If of course you can’t shop in store, don’t fret! Moda Bella is also available online at: www.squareup.com/market/moda-bella

  1. I was sorry I missed the show but love this store. Great fashion and very reasonable. Lots of gift ideas for Mother’s Day and all occasions.

We'd love to hear your thoughts!
